THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS SERIES Orange County, California is famous for a lot of things, but not generally for the large Asian-American population that calls it home, although for many young people in that community, growing up is a struggle against the Model Minority myth and all the usual journeys of self-discovery. Han Lue was one of these youths-- a habitual smoker and petty thief whose disillusionment created a shell of disregard around him about nearly everything. Small crimes turned into big crimes, and eventually Han began operating under the alias "Han Seoul-Oh", eventually becoming friends with Dominic Toretto, with whom he shared a mutual love of fast cars and thrilling heists. It wasn't long after that Han became one of Toretto's go-to crew members, assisting on numerous jobs. A vagabond by necessity, Han is actually looking for a family and stability, something being part of Dom's crew affords him a taste of. Sharply observant and highly intelligent, along with being an excellent driver, Han's one would-be shortcoming is that he's not a particularly good hand-to-hand fighter, another small rebellion against stereotype. |
As you can read, I am completely on board with Justin Lin's intention that Han from Better Luck Tomorrow and Han from the F&F series are the same person. Han's default canon point lands immediately prior to the events of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, but that is highly flexible. I can play in action or prose, past or present tense, as needed. I'm not the fastest tagger, but will happily backtag a thread forever, so don't worry when RL gets in the way. Mun and muse are 21+ Han belongs to Universal, Sung Kang is his own person, and I lay claim to neither. |
